Current Season Highlights

The 2025 Canadian Premier League season features several compelling storylines as teams compete for both the CPL Shield (regular season championship) and the North Star Cup (playoff championship). Both trophies earn automatic berths to the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The season opened with a highly anticipated rematch between Forge FC and Cavalry FC on April 5, 2025 – marking the fourth time these perennial rivals have met on opening day.
Over 50 Canadian U-21 players are expected to earn meaningful minutes this season, with each team required to give at least 2,000 minutes to players under 21.
The 2025 CPL Awards ceremony will be held in the city hosting the Premier League Final, continuing the tradition established in 2022. Award winners will be announced just before the championship match, as has become customary.
Awards will be updated once the 2025 season concludes and winners are announced.
