For the first time in the FIFA World Cup history, OFC has a direct qualification slot into the 2026 FIFA World Cup. There is a total of 1 slot from 11 teams. For qualification, there is a three-round.
In the 16th edition of the OFC qualifiers, all 11 nations are expected to enter the qualification process. In the format for the first round, the 11 teams will split into two groups five teams in one group, and in another group, there will be 6 teams. In the second team, four teams will play knockout two-legged home-and-away matches then the winner will advance to the third round.

Qualifying for the 1st round is expected to begin on 2 September 2024 in Samoa.
First round: The 4 OFC teams would be split into two groups based on their FIFA Men’s World Rankings (4 lowest FIFA-ranked teams), and play round-robin matches at a centralized location.
Second round: The 7 highest-ranked teams would play knockout two-legged home-and-away matches with the top two teams from each group.
Third round: The 4 OFC teams play known out-stage matches. The eventual winner would advance to the inter-confederation play-offs.
