From June 1 to June 3, 2025, clubs across Europe kicked off early summer business (to register players for the 2025 Club World Cup) with at least seven high-profile transfers confirmed. 2025 Football Transfer Update from June 1, Manchester United completed the £62.5 million signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, marking one of the window’s biggest moves.
In England, Everton paid £12.6 million to bring midfielder Carlos Alcaraz in from Flamengo. , Liverpool agreed an £8.4 million deal to sell right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid. Tottenham Hotspur signed Austrian centre-back Kevin Danso on loan (with a £21 million obligation to buy) from Lens, and they also sold midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg to Marseille (undisclosed fee). Bayer Leverkusen agreed to a £29.5 million sale of right-winger Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool
On June 2, Chelsea confirmed the £18.5 million acquisition of defensive midfielder Dário Essugo from Sporting CP, a deal made effective immediately so Essugo could travel with the squad to the Club World Cup. In addition to these headline moves, lower-league transfers included Grimsby Town’s free transfer of a player to Harrogate Town and Birmingham City’s undisclosed sale to Brentford.
