The Qatar national football team represents Qatar in international football and is governed by the Qatar Football Association and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Qatar automatically qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as the host nation.
Qatar is the first country in the Arab world to host the FIFA World Cup and the second host in Asia, following the 2002 tournament held in South Korea and Japan.
This will be Qatar’s first appearance in the FIFA World Cup, as the country has not qualified for the tournament in the past.

History
The story of the Qatar football association is very interesting, Football in Qatar was brought during the time of the initial discovery of oil reserves in Dukhan in 1940.
