Jon Flanagan escapes jail sentence after assaulting his girlfriend
On the last Wednesday of December, Liverpool Magistrates Court announced that Flanagan has to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work and a 12-month community order after he admitted assaulting his girlfriend Rachael Wall in the early hours of December 22. Liverpool Defender Jon Flanagan is an English professional footballer who plays as a fullback for Premier League club Liverpool, and the England national team.
The court heard that he kicked his partner in an attack in Duke Street in Liverpool city center at around 3.20am on Friday, December 22.
He threw his partner into a wall then kicked her while she was on the ground after he had been drinking.

But Liverpool footballer Jon Flanagan has faced the condemnation of his club after he was sentenced.
Flanagan avoided jail but must complete other penalties posed to him by the court.
Apart from these many incidents involving more prestigious names than Flanagan’s have occurred before at Anfield and these players were given a second chance.
Like Luis Suarez bites another professional player, racially abuses another player, is charged and found guilty and is not sacked.
Former Club captain, Steven Gerrard, has a fight in Southport. Gerrard was not found guilty and is not sacked.
Roberto Firmino crosses 3 times over the drink-drive limit, and he is not sacked. He pleaded guilty, was fined £20,000 and banned from driving for a year.
That’s why Joey Barton warns Liverpool it would be ‘hypocrisy’ to sack Jon Flanagan.
